Package: celestia
Version: 1.2.4-4
Severity: normal

Celestia likes modal windows. I don't. :-) I think I should be able to
bring up the controls help window and keep it on the screen while I try
out the controls in the main window. But it's modal. I'd expect to be
able to use the tour guide or celestial browsers to go to an object and
then keeping them open, use controls in the main window to adjust the
view of it. Especially since these windows let you control the main
window indirectly via the Go To buttons, it is confusing that you cannot
control the main window any other way while they're open.

While I'm griping about the UI, I find it confusing that while the tour
guide window has a "ok" button, it does not cause any effect except for
closing the window. Twice now I have picked an object and clicked on ok
-- and nothing happens. I'm sure this violates a UI guidelines
somewhere. It certianly violates my expectations. I'd suggest changing
Ok buttons like that to Close buttons, or removong it entirely and
letting the window manager's close button be used.

If still unconviniced, consider this -- since the tour guide and
celestial browser affect the main window, one quickly learns to move
them off to the side before using them to control it, so one can see
as celestia travels around. If the intent is really to make the dialog
modal, it would be much better UI to make the dialog close as soon as
the user picks an object to go to, so they can see the travelling. And
to indicate that a definite action has taken place. But since as they
are they don't close when an object is selected to go to, and since that
teaches one to move them off to the side, one ends up with a fully
exposed main window, which invites controlling, and of course that
doesn't work since a modal dialog is open.
