If this is not already done (I couldn't find it), 
Synaptic should log the output of the 'Proceed' 
action and provide some ways to access those logs:

  - clean logs older than XXX days
  - display the logs by dates (i.e. history) 
  - browse the logs.

synaptic now offers an interface to dpkg's logs. This doesn't offer an 
option to clean old logs, so please open a new bug if you still think 
this would be useful.
