Subject: gnome-documents: Don't show gnome-books by default
Package: gnome-documents
Version: 3.20.0-2
Severity: normal
*** Please type your report below this line ***
I think the "Books" app included in GNOME is so incomplete that it
would be better to set NoDisplay=True for it.
I believe the only thing it does is view .cbr and .cbz files (usually
used for comic books) [1] but those files can be just as easily viewed
in evince "Document Viewer" or other apps available in Debian.
What I expected when I first launched "Books" was to be able to view
.epub books. Although it shows my epubs in a list, it does not
actually open the files. [2]
Besides those two commits (an initial implementation of Books and a
warning that it doesn't actually do much), no work has really been
done on making Books any more useful and it's been over a year.
I have svn commit access but I wanted to confirm with others whether
this is the right decision and to document it in case anyone
complains.
Jeremy

Description:
gnome-documents - Document manager for GNOME
Closes: 824597
Changes:
gnome-documents (3.20.0-3) unstable; urgency=medium
.
[ Jeremy Bicha ]
* debian/patches/91_hide-gnome-books.patch:
- Set NoDisplay=true for GNOME Books. (Closes: 824597) (LP: #1584522)
* Add debian/docs: Although cdbs automatically installs upstream NEWS
without this file, it looks like dh needs it
* debian/control.in: Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.8
* debian/watch: Use https
.
[ Michael Biebl ]
* Drop --disable-silent-rules from debian/rules. This is now handled by dh
directly depending on whether the DH_QUIET environment variable is set.
