Package: jmapviewer
Version: 1.17+dfsg-1~bpo8+1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
Due to updating, intalling jmapviewer 1.17 for josm package in jessie-backports
is incompatible with Freeplane 1.3.12-1 from jessie stable.
I think that jessie-backports packages should be compatible with jessie main
important packages as Freeplane is.

jmapviewer (1.17+dfsg-1) declares the minimum required version of
freeplane to be compatible. Unfortunately backporting freeplane is too
involved and unlikely to happen as discussed on the Debian GIS list [0].
You will need to chose which packages you value more, freeplane from
jessie or josm from jessie-backports? The josm (and thereby jmapviewer)
backport will remain incompatible with the version of freeplane in
jessie for the foreseeable time. This in an inherent risk of backports,
to quote it's main page [1]:
"
Backports cannot be tested as extensively as Debian stable, and
backports are provided on an as-is basis, with risk of
incompatibilities with other components in Debian stable. Use with
care!
"
If you use freeplane on jessie I recommend to not install the josm
backports and therefore not need the jmapviewer backport either. If you
need a newer josm, use the josm-tested.jar from josm.openstreetmap.de.
