sendmail or whatever msa is used, should, at least optionally, be able 
to get the terminal. I don't see anything speaking against that, the 
mail-editor $VISUAL gets the terminal, too, so why not sendmail?

This way, it would be possible to use msmtp as mailer, and type the 
password in as needed. I would like not to have to put my password 
somewhere in a textfile.

Hi Moritz,
my suggestion is to use gnome keyring or gpg-agent (if you are not using gnome)
to manage your password, so that it is also stored securely and you won't have
to retype it all the time you want to send a mail. See the following doc for
some info:

I'm going to close this bug as wontfix as there are some solutions already
available :)
