--- Begin Message ---Package: libnss-mdns Version: 0.8-6.1 Severity: wishlist Hi, It seems it might be useful for some users to have a nss-mdns library configured with --enable-legacy; the package could be named libnss-mdns-legacy and be generated in a second build with different configure flags. The legacy package would conflict with the regular lib and would not need to depend on avahi-daemon; (I'm not personally interested in such a package; this bug report is just about documenting that this might be an interesting alternative way of supporting sites which have a .local TLD and might also be of interest to embedded systems.) The legacy mode is strongly deprecated, and in the fork that I will look at packaging after stretch is released (https://github.com/lathiat/nss-mdns) it has been removed completely. So I think it's safe to say this is not going to happen :-) S
