Package: qemu
Version: 0.7.0-2
Severity: important
Hi
I've run into a problem using qemu with large-disk images. I recently
created an 8 gigabyte image file using the qcow format and attempted to
install Windows 2000 on it. All seemed to be going well until qemu suddenly
crashed with a "File size limit exceeded" error. This seemed to happen on
the 2 gigabyte boundary. Obviously this is a significant problem when
attempting to emulate modern day operating systems.
Admittedly, I don't know much about this issue, but I've heard that there is
a compiler option that permits read/write access for larger files over this
size. Therefore, it may be possible that this issue could be solved in this
manner.
Hope this information helps.
Regards,
Barrie
