i just recently upgraded my imap-server from woody (with
dovecot-backport 0.99.13-2.backports.org.1) to sarge.
one of my users complained that he wasn't able to open some mboxes after
the upgrade.
after investigation i found the following line in the syslog:
imap(user1): Error indexing mbox file /home/user/mail//Drafts: LF not found
where expected
it turned out that there is a newline at the beginning of the "Drafts"-mbox.
deleting this newline makes the mbox work again. (i can provide a good
and a faulty mbox-file for testing at http://iem.at/~zmoelnig/dovecot/ )
reading through the dovecot.org-wiki, it seems like they might have
fixed this in dovecot-1.0;
i think they won't fix it upstream for 0.99, so i would be thankful if
this could be done on the packagers side.
