I'd love to believe it's a repository foulup on my end but...

But it's obviously not the case that it's my repository config.
I've taken md5sums of the squid-common package contents.
If I I find only a couple files in /usr/share/doc/squid-common have changed,
I'm going to have some serious questions as to why this dependency is so tight.
This is a foulup that has happened for EVERY squid upgrade I have
encountered in 2006.
