See my sig ... turned out mail had been bouncing for almost a week
before my inbox filled to the point where i was getting almost no mail.
(due to any message which would have taken me over the quota being
discarded). Some kind of notification to postmaster would be useful.
Or maybe even a _short_ note dropped into my own inbox informing me that
an email had been lost due to being over quota. Or how about proactive
scanning telling me that i was close to a quota _i had no idea existed_?

Due to broken mail software, I lost 100 email messages between Aug 13 and
Aug 19. If yours was one of them, please resend.

Postfix as an LDA does not enforce quotas, so this would the responsibility of
whatever is enforcing the quota and bouncing the message.
