For size just type 1 instead of 1M,
then hit RET upon seeing [ primary ]
this will generate
"internal error: unsupported dialog type 2".

We no longer build cfdisk against slang. Since a while back Debian also
builds it against ncurses as is the upstream default.

I've tried to reproduce this problem on a small test image and no matter
which partition types I used I always to a proper error message saying
that 1 is too small.

I thus conclude my initial guess that this was related to slang might
have been correct and thus closing this bug report now.

Andreas Henriksson
