Package: calibre
Version: 2.19.0+dfsg-1
Severity: wishlist
The calibre version in jessie is getting old, and is having some
trouble supporting the latest e-readers out there.
For example, the latest versions of the Kobo Aura and Kobo Aura H20
yield a warning in Calibre 2.19. This seems to be the case as well in
2.48, so that affects sid as well - but this is fixed in upstream
2.49.
So incidentally, it would be great if calibre is updated to the latest
upstream as well for stretch/sid!
https://calibre-ebook.com/whats-new
The latest is 2.53, from 4 days ago (!?), but the latest driver
updates date from 2.50.1 (january 29th).
Yet my biggest problem is that the latest Kobo Glo doesn't get
detected at all in 2.19. In 2.48, it works, but also with some
warning.
I have been able to build a backport of 2.48 in a clean jessie chroot
without modifications, so maintaining such a backport should be fairly
easy. I'd be happy to help with that if necessary, but it is usually
better if the current maintainer keeps track of those backports, of
course. :)

The BTS does not deal with backports, please report this to backport
maintainers. The current versions in Debian/stable are rather new,
and unstable/testing contains the latest version.
Closing this bug.
