With emacs 24 M-x gdb seems to print the "(gdb)" prompt too early,
before the output of a command has finished. This leads to very
unreadable output. Please see the screencast at

to see how exactly macs23 and emacs24 differ in this respect. It's
difficult to describe all these steps accurately in text. Note also how
the state of the debugger is "unknown" in emacs24 but "stopped" in
emacs23. Something is clearly wrong with the way emacs interacts with
gdb.
