Dear Maintainer,
I have a pretty standard installation of glusterfs with 2 bricks/volumes
configured. Logrotate configuration (/etc/logrotate.d/glusterfs-common) was not
changed.
The logs under /var/log/glusterfs/ are all getting rotated as expected and the
daemons continues to log to the newly created files. Probably because glusterd
and glusterfs are getting a HUP'ed in the postrotate section.
The brick-logs under /var/log/glusterfs/bricks are also getting rotated, but
glusterfsd continues to log in the rotated log mnt-gluster-VOLNAME.log.1.
I've found 2 solutions to this problem:
1. In the debian-package available from gluster.org[1] logrotate is configured
with "copytruncate", this works.
2. In the glusterfs github-repository[2] the approach is a different definition
for the brick-logs that includes sending a HUP to glusterfsd. If i do this
after the "unsuccesful logrotate" the daemon immediately starts to log into the
new log-file, so this approach works too.
I believe either on of these changes in the configuration would correct the
behaviour to what i would expect.
