Package: dovecot-imapd
Version: 1:1.2.15-7
Severity: important

My Android device suddenly stopped receiving emails. Investigating with
Dovecot's rawlog facility, I can
see that the client is trying to append to an item in the Sent folder, but
Dovecot blows up when the From:
address is presented whilst containing a quoted display-name which contains
some UTF-8 and ends the session.

Of course, the client retries and goes round the same loop until it errors out
('Network error'). The end
result being that mail is no longer able to be collected. This started a few
days ago. No idea why though.

The address line being sent appear legal looking through RFC 2822, as you can
basically have anything within
a quoted-string. The line in question is 'From:
"=?utf-8?B?c3RldmVAZGVsdGFiYnMub3Jn?=" <u...@domain.com>'.

The (snipped) IN log (from client) reads:

42 LIST "" *
43 CREATE Trash
44 CREATE Drafts
45 CREATE Sent
46 NOOP
47 APPEND Sent (\Seen) {8944641}

This has been working since at least the version in Squeeze.
