--- Begin Message ---Package: boinc Version: 7.8.2+dfsg-3 Severity: critical Dear Maintainer, I installed the last version of Boinc and attached the Seti, LHC and Einstein projects. As I have a Nvidia GPU, I added too the boinc-cuda packages. When I start from zero and attach a project, is normal to connect the main site, download some files and to start tasks. Some seconds after downloaded the task packages, returns "computation error". As I have normal and GPU tasks, was strange to see that the GPU tasks works fine. Taking a look in web, I found a suggest to use the ldd tool over the executable files from each project. So, I entered in /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/<project> and used ldd in each +x file. Take a look over seti@home. laotse:/var/lib/boinc-client/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu# ls -Fla | grep '^\S*x\S*' drwxrwx--x 2 boinc boinc 12288 set 27 09:38 ./ drwxrwx--x 5 boinc boinc 4096 set 27 09:16 ../ -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 13551 ago 30 09:12 bl_800.jpg* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 356520 ago 30 09:12 bl_bkg_800.jpg* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 9714 ago 30 09:12 seti_800.jpg* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 924 set 27 09:35 setiathome-8.00_AUTHORS* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 17992 set 27 09:35 setiathome-8.00_COPYING* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 2000 set 27 09:35 setiathome-8.00_COPYRIGHT* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 2065 set 27 09:35 setiathome-8.00_README* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 4588648 set 27 09:36 setiathome_8.00_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 5015920 ago 30 09:11 setiathome_8.01_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu__cuda60* -rwxr-xr-x 1 boinc boinc 1276592 set 27 09:35 setigraphics_8.00_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu* laotse:/var/lib/boinc-client/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu# ldd setiathome_8.01_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu__cuda60 linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007ffc16f13000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x00007ff768217000) libcudart.so.6.0 => /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/ setiathome.berkeley.edu/./libcudart.so.6.0 (0x00007ff767f c6000) libcufft.so.6.0 => /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/ setiathome.berkeley.edu/./libcufft.so.6.0 (0x00007ff765d99 000) libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6 (0x00007ff765a1a000) libm.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6 (0x00007ff765716000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x00007ff7654ff000) libc.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x00007ff765162000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007ff768434000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2 (0x00007ff764f5e000) librt.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/librt.so.1 (0x00007ff764d56000) laotse:/var/lib/boinc-client/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu# ldd setigraphics_8.00_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu linux-vdso.so.1 (0x00007fff101a4000) libglut.so.3 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libglut.so.3 (0x00007f48f5c62000) libGLU.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLU.so.1 (0x00007f48f59f3000) libGL.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1 (0x00007f48f5767000) libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6 (0x00007f48f53e8000) libm.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6 (0x00007f48f50e4000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x00007f48f4ec7000) libc.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x00007f48f4b2a000) /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x00007f48f5eac000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXext.so.6 (0x00007f48f4918000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6 (0x00007f48f45d8000) libXi.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXi.so.6 (0x00007f48f43c8000) libXxf86vm.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXxf86vm.so.1 (0x00007f48f41c2000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x00007f48f3fab000) libGLX.so.0 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLX.so.0 (0x00007f48f3d7a000) libGLdispatch.so.0 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGLdispatch.so.0 (0x00007f48f3ac4000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2 (0x00007f48f38c0000) libxcb.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxcb.so.1 (0x00007f48f3698000) libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXau.so.6 (0x00007f48f3494000) libXdmcp.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXdmcp.so.6 (0x00007f48f328e000) libbsd.so.0 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libbsd.so.0 (0x00007f48f3079000) librt.so.1 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/librt.so.1 (0x00007f48f2e71000) laotse:/var/lib/boinc-client/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu# ldd setiathome_8.00_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu not a dynamic executable The same for each other project. The boinc is downloading a >wrong version? nope, boinc is downloading the version that each project publishes. Usually that kind of downloaded apps is static built, not dynamic, just because boinc can't download the dependencies otherwise So, please bother with upstream projects if they don't work, there is nothing we can do with Debian for them. I understand it might be critical, but totally not a boinc fault (did you try app-seti?) G.
