The version of Monodevelop included in debian testing has some problems with
ASP.NET, I can't create new projects with that function. This seems to happen
also on Ubuntu 16.04 which uses the same package version and there are also
more detailed information in there.

When opening monodevelop > new project, there should be the ASP.NET option
