I believe it would be beneficial to many users to be able to install a 
minimal set of packages that would provide netbios name resolution and 
aide in the discovery of netbios naming (typically via broadcast?) on 
networks which do not involve a domain controller but rather a collection of
statically defined COMPUTER_NAMEs with a common WORKGROUP definition.  

An example usecase might be the sharing of Xsession information 
using agreed naming between Windows/Cygwin and Linux machines.
