Package: firestarter
Version: 1.0.3-8
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
-------------------------------------------------------------
Installing firefighter from aptitude:-
===================================
Unpacking firestarter (from .../firestarter_1.0.3-8_i386.deb) ...
Processing triggers for man-db ...
Processing triggers for menu ...
Processing triggers for desktop-file-utils ...
Setting up firestarter (1.0.3-8) ...
update-rc.d: warning: firestarter start runlevel arguments (S) do not match LSB
Default-Start values (2 3 4 5)
update-rc.d: warning: firestarter stop runlevel arguments (none) do not match
LSB Default-Stop values (0 1 6)
Processing triggers for menu ...
Press return to continue.
================================
I am not sure if those warnings above from update-rc.d are relevant to
the bug.
Attempting to run firestarter (from a root terminal) for the first time:
gave:-
-------------------------------------------
# firestarter
(firestarter:3425): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols
specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.
----------------------------------------------
Next I tried
# /etc/init.d/firestarter
# /etc/init.d/firestarter help
# /etc/init.d/firestarter status
# /etc/init.d/firestarter start
In each case, nothing happened. So I inspected the script
and found
FS_CONTROL="/etc/firestarter/firestarter.sh"
[ -x /usr/sbin/firestarter ] || exit 0
[ -x $FS_CONTROL ] || exit 0
so I looked :-
~# ls -l /etc/firestarter/firestarter.sh
ls: cannot access /etc/firestarter/firestarter.sh: No such file or directory
--------------------------------------------------------
So /etc/firestarter/firestarter.sh was not present. Nor was it listed
under dpkg -L firestarter.
Also
# ls -l /etc/firestarter/
total 4
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 567 2009-08-15 13:08 non-routables
Is there not supposed to be a configuration file there as well? But perhaps
not until the first run?
Anyway, as my first attempt to install firestarter, it fails completely.
In passing, I am using xfce, but I understand that firestarter should run
Ok in this environment.
