Sudo is apparently not hooking the tty to the child process any
longer. When I attempt to start a root emacs in X emacs exits with
the message:
emacs: standard input is not a tty
The command line alias reads as follows:
alias remacs='(unset -f
rm;TMPDIR=/tmp;HOME=/root;USER=root;MAIL=/var/spool/mail/root;export HOME USER
MAIL; sudo emacs -i -geometry 80x64&)'
In version 1.6.8p7-1.2 the above alias works as expected and starts a
root emacs in a new window.

I can't reproduce this problem in 1.6.8p12-2, which I'm preparing to upload to
unstable. Therefore assuming whatever the problem is that you're seeing is
fixed in this version. If not, let me know, and we'll go from there.
