Package: joe
Version: 2.8-20
Severity: normal
Joe uses the .kh and .kH termcap entries for bol and eol, but seems not to
set the cursor keys into "application" mode. This causes the home and end
keys not to work when joe is used in an xterm. Currently (in Woody) it
works fine on the console or if the xterm has had "Application Cursor Keys"
enabled; joe does not appear to either set or clear that.
There are several half-baked workarounds available. Setting the cursor key
mode for the terminal in a wrapper might work (perhaps only when running in
an xterm?). Adding the non-application-mode key sequences to /etc/joe/joerc
(and other *rc files, I suppose), though that won't fix it for folks who
have setup a customized RC. (or will it? the man page doesn't specify
whether more than one RC is ever read)

I don't know about the specific issue of application mode, but home and end
keys work with xterm from sarge and joe 3.3.
Thanks for the report.
