_SC_HOST_NAME_MAX via sysconf or supplying a reasonable fallback
constant. Instead of SIOCGARP, please try using SIOCGIFCONF to obtain
a table of network interfaces and SIOCGIFHWADDR to look up their
hardware addresses.
