--- Begin Message ---Package: upstart Version: 0.3.9-2 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Upstart conflicts with sysvinit. So when upstart is marked for installation in synaptic, a warning is given that sysvinit is an essential package that is going to be removed. Clicking on ok will install upstart and remove sysvinit. Every time after that, whenever Mark All Upgrades is clicked on in Synaptic, sysvinit is marked for installation and upstart is marked to be removed. I assume this is because sysvinit is marked as essential. There is some problem with either upstart, sysvinit, or synaptic. Maybe the problem is with sysvinit being marked as essential when it really isn't essential if upstart is used. --- System information. --- Architecture: i386 Kernel: Linux 2.6.28.090316 Debian Release: squeeze/sid 500 testing www.debian-multimedia.org 500 testing security.debian.org 500 testing debian.linux.ibm.com 500 hardy ppa.launchpad.net --- Package information. --- Depends (Version) | Installed =======================-+-=========== |
