Package: acidwarp
Version: 1.0-5
Severity: important
>From an xterm I fire up 'acidwarp'. The screen blanks out and
an image of a face shows up, and some text, like this:
ACID
(face)
WARP
CTRL-BRK TO EXIT
...but when I press 'Ctrl-Break', nothing happens. A novice
might suppose 'acidwarp' had crashed.
The program can be stopped with 'Ctrl-C', at which point this text
appears:
Using SAVAGE driver, 32768KB. Chipset: Savage4 ***
svgalib 1.4.3
svgalib: Signal 2: Interrupt received (ctrl-c pressed).
(***The video driver would depend on the system of course.)
Note how 'acidwarp' doesn't return the user to their xterm. That
might confuse novices too.
I hit 'Alt-left_arrow' to get back to X. There on the
xterm it says:
Please wait...
*** Press Control-C to exit the program at any time. ***
Acid Warp Version 4.10 (C)Copyright 1992, 1993 by Noah Spurrier and Mark
Bilk
Linux port by Steven Wills
...which is the correct advice about Control-C, but the user
never sees it until he doesn't need it.
Suggested improvements:
1) Change the opening image so it says:
ACID
(face)
WARP
CTRL-C TO EXIT
2) When the user hits 'Ctrl-C' return them to the terminal they
started from, instead of leaving them in the console that
'acidwarp' uses.
Hope this helps...
