Package: rarian-compat
Version: 0.8.1-4
Severity: important

Hi,

doc-base generates omf files in subdirectories of /var/lib/doc-base/omf.
It also installs a /usr/share/omf/doc-base symlink which points to the
above directory. Such a configuration used to work with scrollkeeper,
but no longer works with rarian-compat.

It seems rarian ignores subdirectories of /usr/share/omf/doc-base and
expects to find there doc-base*.omf only:

[4]/tmp> strace -e file rarian-example 2>&1 | grep doc-base
stat64("/usr/share//omf/doc-base", {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=8192, ...}) = 0
access("/usr/share//omf/doc-base/doc-base-pl_PL.omf", R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No
such file or directory)
access("/usr/share//omf/doc-base/doc-base-pl.omf", R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such
file or directory)
access("/usr/share//omf/doc-base/doc-base-C.omf", R_OK) = -1 ENOENT (No such
file or directory)

I know, doc-base could generate omf files directly in /usr/share/omf,
but I'm strongly against such a solution - /usr can be mounted
read-only or be shared via NFS, and it's not suitable for generated
files.

It would be nice if rarian could either scan subdirectories of /u/s/omf
or scanned /var/lib/doc-base/omf in addition to /u/s/omf. If you have
other ideas, how to fix the problem, please let me know.

Thanks,
robert
(doc-base maintainer)
