--- Begin Message ---Package: wget Severity: minor Hi, Resolving #766780 seems to have pulled in a pair of disproportionally large libraries: [...] The following NEW packages will be installed: libicu52 libpsl0 The following packages will be upgraded: wget [...] After this operation, 28,4 MB of additional disk space will be used. Can this new dependency be made more optional, please? There's oh so many situations where wget is used to download something where cookies are not used at all, and having this amount of cruft lying around on the off chance you enable cookies and then talk to a malicious server makes very littlek sense. See also https://lists.debian.org/debian-boot/2014/11/msg00595.html TIA. -- 2. That which causes joy or happiness.

--- Begin Message ---Tim, please note that your earlier email only reached the package maintainer and not the bug submitter, cf. https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Developer#followup It just so happens that I looked this up manually :) So, this was apparently fixed when wget was recompiled against this newer libpsl5, and some spelunking indicates that the libpsl5 recompile happened at 1.18-3 on 2016-09-22 and then in turn libpsl5 lost the icu dependency with 0.17.0-1 at 2017-01-24. So it was broken in jessie and fixed in stretch (released 2017-06-17). -- 2. That which causes joy or happiness.
