Package: alsa-utils
Version: 1.1.3-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/amixer

Hello,

the amixer documentation is spotty at best so I cannot tell if this is
supposed to work or how. Anyway, using amixer on hardware card works, on
pulseaudio it fails without any explanation whatsoever. Alsamixer works
on either:

~ $ amixer
Simple mixer control 'Master',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pswitch pswitch-joined
Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right
  Limits: Playback 0 - 65536
  Mono:
Front Left: Playback 0 [0%] [on]
Front Right: Playback 0 [0%] [on]
Simple mixer control 'Capture',0
  Capabilities: cvolume cswitch cswitch-joined
Capture channels: Front Left - Front Right
  Limits: Capture 0 - 65536
Front Left: Capture 65536 [100%] [on]
Front Right: Capture 65536 [100%] [on]
~ $ amixer -c 0 sset Master playback 1dB-
Simple mixer control 'Master',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined
  Playback channels: Mono
  Limits: Playback 0 - 39
  Mono: Playback 25 [64%] [-21.00dB] [on]
~ $ amixer -c 0 sset Master playback 1dB+
Simple mixer control 'Master',0
  Capabilities: pvolume pvolume-joined pswitch pswitch-joined
  Playback channels: Mono
  Limits: Playback 0 - 39
  Mono: Playback 26 [67%] [-19.50dB] [on]
~ $ amixer sset Master playback 1dB-
amixer: Invalid command!

I am closing this bug as there seems to be no cooperation from
submitter. It is not a bug. One need to define the pulse device as
shown above.
