Package: lxc
Version: 1:3.1.0-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

LXC 3.1 is development branch and not suitable for long term and production use.
For the upcoming Debian Buster, LXC 3.0 would be better - its LTS and has
support until 2023.

see: https://discuss.linuxcontainers.org/t/lxc-3-1-has-been-released/3527

"This is an intermediary feature release and not one of our major LTS releases
or LTS bugfix releases.
We plan on doing more of those in the future, but note that support on those
releases will be limited
as we mostly focus on LTS for production environments."

"LXC 3.1 isn’t a LTS release and so will only be supported until such time as
LXC 3.2 is released.
We recommend users that need a stronger support commitment to stay on one of
our LTS releases."

Thanks,

Roman

Hi,

The LTS advertisement wasn't done on the LXC download page, so I got
confused and uploaded 3.1 to unstable.

Then I realized my mistake and I did a re-release of 3.0.3.

See tracker.debian.org/pkg/lxc:

[2019-01-10] Accepted lxc 1:3.1.0+really3.0.3-1 (source amd64) into
unstable (Pierre-Elliott Bécue)

It's far easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them.
