Package: postfix
Version: 0.0.19991231pl11-2
Severity: wishlist

We have turned on the recipient_delimiter feature using the suggested '+'
symbol as the delimiter.

We have found that we receive mail for "cn=login/o=ex...@domain.com"
from time to time, which bounces. It appears that at least one MTA or
MUA 'helpfully' converts login+ex...@domain.com to
cn=login/o=ex...@domain.com.

We have worked around this using a recipient_canonical file:
(main.cf) recipient_canonical_maps = regexp:/etc/postfix/recipient_canonical
-- Begin /etc/postfix/recipient_canonical
/^cn\=(.*)\/o\=(.*)\@(.*)$/     ${1}+${2}@${3}
-- End /etc/postfix/recipient_canonical

My suggestion is to suggest in the documentation that a similar workaround
be implemented for people using '+' as the recipient delimiter.

cheers,
Woody

This is a general smtp protocol divergence and nothing to do with postfix. The
postfix documentation is not the place for documenting general smtp protocol
warts or bugs in other implementations.
