The lack of any indication what happened makes it hard to fix if it's a configuration problem. Aha, looking at the changelog, it seems that use_ssl was added and defaults to 1, and apparently it fails to connect over ssl for whatever reason, and this is the result. This config change warrants mention in NEWS at least, and if there's a ssl error, it ought to show it in the log. -- System Information: Debian Release: buster/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.16.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages kgb-bot depends on: ii adduser 3.118 ii git 1:2.19.1-1 ii kgb-client 1.52-1 ii libipc-run-perl 20180523.0-1 ii libjson-xs-perl 3.040-1 ii libmonkey-patch-perl 0.03-2 ii libnet-ip-perl 1.26-2 ii libpoe-component-irc-perl 6.90+dfsg-1 ii libpoe-component-server-soap-perl 1.14-2 ii libpoe-component-sslify-perl 1.012-1 ii libpoe-perl 2:1.3670-2 ii libproc-pid-file-perl 1.27-4 ii libschedule-ratelimiter-perl 0.01-2 ii libyaml-perl 1.26-1 ii lsb-base 9.20170808 ii perl 5.26.2-7+b1 kgb-bot recommends no packages. An installation with the unchanged config would cause bots to appear in this channel. (Closes: #927372) * Add an entry to debian/NEWS about a pitfall with use_ssl and port in /etc/kgb-bot/kgb.conf.
