Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
* What led up to the situation?
I want to have more than one tesktop to evaluate which fits best to my needs.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
During installation of Buster I installed Cinnamon desktop only.
Afterwards I added LXQt desktop.
* What was the outcome of this action?
I am configuring the desktop LXQt and choose element "network" to be shown. But
it isn't shown on the desktop. When I switch to desktop Cinnamon again this
element is shown on desktop Cinnamon!
* What outcome did you expect instead?
I expect the elements shown on the right desktop.

What and why should be displayed where?
To be more clear: Mixing desktops into one installation is the worst
idea one can have. Have a look at the lxqt metapackage, esp. the network
management section.
Default network management in LXQt is connman and cmst - you installed
cinnamon before, so the network management is n-m and n-m-applet. We
don't care about, one should find it somewhere in the start menu. You
will find other packages that are not the first choice from LXQt.
Cheers Alf
