Package: gnucash
Version: 1.7.8-1
Severity: wishlist
Working with a big tree of accounts if very difficult. Particularly a different
account
section is needed in the transaction entering dialog:
It will be much easier with a account name completion drop down list.
As the feature is implemented actually, entering a transaction which involves
two
accounts which are "deep" in the accounts tree requieres all times a lot of
keystrokes or
mouse click operations.
Again, in the drop down account list, a recently used accounts might appear at
the
begenning of the account list.
Thank you for improving gnucash!

(retitled from the original "RFE: Requiered a different managing of accounts
in transaction entering dialog" for clarity.)
GnuCash supports locating accounts via the hierarchy - type the initial letter
of the top level account (e for Expenses) then the account separator
character (e.g. a colon : ) then the initial letter of the next account in
the hierarchy (e.g. Car), another separator and the final letter, e.g. r for
Repair.
Therefore, entering e:c:r selects Expenses:Car:Repair and Maintenance.
Thank you for your cooperation!
