The way the ifrename_wait_retry patch tries to solve name collisions
is buggy; it needs a timeout. If for whatever reason, udev got
confused in the renaming (see
http://blog.madduck.net/debian/2006.03.15-udev-problems.html), it
will loop forever.
I suggest implementing a timeout and reverting to the old name when
the timeout is reached.
