Package: ripgrep
Version: 0.10.0-2
Severity: minor
Maybe just refresh the package description based on the current upstream
project description. I though would prefer to explicitly have "smart
filtering" mentioned to make clear it's more DWIM (do what I mean) and
less DWGWD (do what grep would do ;-).
This should avoid unexpected behaviour after just reading the package
description and expecting a more grep-like behaviour. (The current
package description doesn't mention _which_ features of ack and ag make
ripgrep similar to them.)
Full discussion in an upstream bug report, starting at
https://github.com/BurntSushi/ripgrep/issues/306#issuecomment-477120984
P.S.: Thanks for packaging ripgrep! Might become my favourite generic
grep-like program, at least on big data amounts. (And I say that as the
primary maintainer of Debian's ack package. Will still continue to
maintain the ack package, though. ;-)
