Package: src:linux
Version: 5.4.8-1
Severity: important

Hello there,

Since 5.4 kernels, my /dev/sda5 cannot be unlocked from initramfs anymore, so
I can't boot under a 5.4* kernel (at least I haven't managed yet).

Straight after typing my LUKS passphrase, I get "crypt: Error allocating
crypto tfm".

From diffing the initramfs'es, I see that kernel/arch/x86/crypto/aes-x86_64.ko
was present in 5.3.0-3 kernels, but not present anymore in 5.4.0-1 or 5.4.0-2
kernels.

Changes:
 cryptsetup (2:2.2.2-2) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   [ Guilhem Moulin ]
   * d/initramfs/hooks/cryptroot: On initramfs images built with MODULES=dep,
include the IV generator found in the cipher specification when there is a
matching kernel module. On 5.4 kernels ESSIV isn't implemented in
dm_crypt anymore, but by a dedicated 'essiv' module which thus needs to be
available in order to unlock dm-crypt target using 'aes-cbc-essiv:sha256'.
     Closes: #948593.
