Package: mythtvfs
Version: 0.6.1-2
Severity: wishlist

Storage directories are commonly used to separate MythTV recordings. It seems
that mythtvfs doesn't pay attention to the storage options on the backend
server, and instead expects all the recordings to be flat, under the directory
specified when mythtvfs is started. (I only observe this...didn't check the
source code.) If the recordings are not present in the top-level directory, a
"skipping" message is logged to the debug file.

Note that this problem is not only from the use of storage groups, but
configuring the mythbackend to use multiple file systems for recording storage.
In my experience, this is necessary if you have a significant volume of
recordings.

I suppose one could run many instances of mythtvfs, one for each recording
storage directory, but this seems very wasteful. For my own setup, this would
result in around 15 copies of mythtvfs running. Another workaround might be to
create symbolic links to the real .mpg file locations within the storage
hierarchy. This would be a maintenance issue.
