Hi,

The flock utility is great, but sadly, it uses the flock syscall only,
thus it does not interoperate with programs using fcntl locking (which
seems to be preferred as it's more fine grained and works over NFS).
I think adding (full file) fcntl locking support as an option would be
pretty easy, if upstream is interested, and the name of the utility
would not cause significant confusion. I'm willing to implement it if
there's consensus.

Hi,

as mentioned by Andreas, upstream has improved the situation in the
meantime. If this is not enough, please send patches to upstream,
see https://github.com/karelzak/util-linux

Tracking this in Debian adds very little value, therefore I'm
closing this bug for now.

Thanks,
Chris
