Kdenlive "Change Speed" of a clip feature requires building MLT with rubberband
libmlt and librubberband are packaged separately for Debian. Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Kdenlive.
2. Import a media file (audio or video) into the Project Bin.
3. Drag the media file into the track/timeline.
4. Right click the track to open the Context menu and click "Change speed"
5. "Pitch compensation" option is unavailable (grayed out), and tool-tip text
says
"MLT must be compiled with rubberband library to enable pitch correction"
librubberband2 was already installed. Installing rubberband-cli then restarting
kdenlive didn't solve the issue. I downloaded the source of libmlt6 and built
it, with --enable-glp, --enable-gpl3 and --enable-luma (--enable-gpl covered
rubberband). Compiling required installing a few packages such as
librubberband-dev. "make install" as root installed libmlt .so files into
/usr/local/lib/ and after a reboot, Kdenlive simply crashed to open. Renaming
/usr/local/lib/mlt fixed the crash. I moved the manually built libraries into
/usr/lib/x86_.../mlt and pointed the symlinks under /usr/lib/x86_.../ about
libmlt appropriately, but kdenlive still crashed.
Maybe it was assumed that Kdenlive could use the librubberband2 package and thus
libmlt was built without it, but kdenlive actually requires libmlt itself to be
built with rubberband?
