Dear Maintainer,

I have a dual boot pc running Windows and Linux. On this machine, I have tried
Aegisub on Debian Buster, then Ubuntu Focal, back to Debian Buster,
and finally Debian Testing. I got the same issue on all of the distros/versions.

The Windows version of Aegisub works fine on the same hardware, but when I play
a video on the Linux version, the image plays at the correct speed,
but the audio seems to play a 8x speed or even faster.

However, this problem is not present in the Aegisub on my X230 Laptop which is
also running Debian Buster.

I'm not sure what the issue is, but my wild guess is that the problem is related
to audio chip driver / firmware.

On my PC, the audio chip is Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. [MSI]
Starship/Matisse HD Audio Controller,
Running snd_hda_codec_hdmi 61440 driver.

On my laptop the audio chip is Intel Corp 7 Series/C216 Chipset family HD Audio
Controller,
running snd_hda_codec_hdmi 57344 audio driver

Thank you for maintaining this package.
I would really like to move away from Windows so any help is appreciated!

The reporter says that the problem was solved changing from ALSA to
Pulseaudio. In addition, my configuration uses ALSA and works as
expected, so I'm closing it.
