Package: fprintd
Version: 0.8.1-1
Severity: important
The fprintd daemon is running and the PAM subsystem is configured with its
authentication module, but the dongle of Elan Microelectronics Corp. with ID
04f3: 0c28 is not detected, with the consequence that the enrollment of the
digital crests is impossible.
Even loading PAM fprintd with "auth sufficient pam_fprintd.so" before PAM UNIX
fingerprint authentication has no effect, as if the dongle was not connected.
The system acts as if it had no drivers but the dongle is working when
compiling libfprint manually: this dongle is supported on GNU/Linux systems via
libfprint and natively allows 360° finger authentication, I've tested it in a
separate subdirectory with the included sample programs (it produces valid
images of the digital crests and recognizes the saved crests).
Could you make the dongle be recognized?
Thank you,
Lorenzo
