This problem appears to affect all video players on my system (Dell
laptop Latitude D505 running Debian) so I presume it's a problem
with a dependency all have. When I'm running a video window and have
another window open in front, covering up the video display, and then
minimise the front window (showing the video again) it nearly always
causes GNOME to crash.

and was removed from the Debian archive afterwards.
