Hi folks,

/etc/init.d/nis start gets stuck for about 10 minutes at boot
time, if network-manager is installed. Then it gives up with
"backgrounding". ps -ef shows

# ps -ef | grep yp
root        26     2  0 Apr11 ?        00:00:00 [crypto/0]
root     22255     1  0 14:18 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/ypbind -broadcast
-no-dbus
root     22258 22245  0 14:18 pts/0    00:00:00 ypwhich
root     22262 21857  0 14:19 pts/2    00:00:00 grep yp

If I deinstall network-manager and reboot, then the startup
script completes its job within seconds.

/etc/default/nis says

        NISCLIENT=true
        NISMASTER=
        NISSERVER=false
        YPBINDARGS=-no-dbus
        YPCHANGEOK=chsh
        YPPASSWDDARGS=
        YPPWDDIR=/etc
        YPSERVARGS=
        YPXFRDARGS=

Regards

Harri

nis does not support NM and dbus since busteri (both Debian and upstream) due to its instability I guess, so closing.
