with invoke-rc.d with fallback
to system 5 stop, but both fail.

Hi, I recently adopted the `nis` package and I'm housekeeping old bugs around.
Are you still there to discuss this report? I'm missing the point of it.
Was the ypbind stalled when you started removing?
I do not think so (stalled, as I am pretty sure I checked on multiple
machines), however that is two years ago, and I do not use NIS anymore.
