Package: mc
Version: 3:4.8.26-1
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
Upgraded mc from 3:4.8.22-1 to 3:4.8.26-1. Noticed the broken behaviour, where
pressing enter on a zip file in the pane resulted in no action at all.
Pressing F3 on the file to parse the contents resulted in an Error 2 "no such
file or directory".
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
Checked differences in the uzip extfs file but determined that it was not the
source of the issue. Downgraded mc and mc-data instead.
* What was the outcome of this action?
Downgrading back to 3:4.8.22-1 fixed the issue. There is probably a problem
with the core libraries involved, and I cannot tell from external tools what
the issue is since the error is occurring withing child processes/threads, I
know that much from a brief look at an strace -o.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
I would have preferred the upgrade to have gone smoothly and had the benefits
of upstream fixes.
