Hi,
since gnome-panel and friends depend/recommend gamin | fam also nautilus
should do so (rationale: you'll end up having gamin installed as pulled
in as first option, so when installing nautilus one has to prevent the
installation of fam)

We are in the process of removing all fam dependencies, to use the
inotify gnomevfs backend instead. Fam will stay as a Recommends: only,
for the benefit of monitoring NFS mounts, and gamin will entirely go
away.
