nbdkit build-depends on various kernel images, however I don't see yet a reason
why it should, and I cannot find anything in the debian changelog. Please could
you document why it needs the kernel images for the build?

The use of kernel images for testing has been documented and the
build-dependencies markted with <!nocheck> for quite some time. I am
closing this bug.
