* Package name : python-sasl
Version : 0.3.1
Upstream Author : Todd Lipcon <[email protected]>
* URL : https://github.com/cloudera/python-sasl
* License : Apache-2.0
Programming Lang: C, Python
Description : Python bindings for libsasl2
This package should enable a Python-based tool to take advantage of
any installed SASL module.
This should be useful for testing tools like sasl-xoauth2 (see for
example #1006888)

I did a bit of work packaging python-sasl to create a simple/reasonable
debian package, and i've published my work at
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/python-sasl
But after playing with the module more, i no longer think it should be
in in debian. as the debian/TODO file in the salsa repo notes:
The module itself doesn't feel great -- it has no documentation, no
examples, and what feels to me like a distinctly unpythonic interface.
It has also seen only very intermittent upstream contributions.
So i'm abandoning this work for now (and closing the bug report) but
leaving it visible for anyone who wants to pick up on it from here.
Hopefully this data trail is useful for someone in the future.
