It seems that this started a few days ago, after upgrading fetchmail from
version 6.4.32-1 to 6.4.33-1.

However, the fetchmail daemon is running as user fetchmail and not as root:

$ ps aux | grep fetchmail
fetchma+    3239  0.0  0.0  13712  7340 ?        Ss   01:25   0:00
/usr/bin/fetchmail -f /etc/fetchmailrc --pidfile
/var/run/fetchmail/fetchmail.pid --syslog

And the file /etc/fetchmailrc exists and is readable by user fetchmail:

$ dir /etc/fetchmailrc
-rw------- 1 fetchmail root 2.3K Oct 17  2021 /etc/fetchmailrc

Hence, I don't understand why I all of a sudden get these warnings "Running as
root is discouraged." and "no mailservers have been specified."
