Package: udev
Version: 0.093-1
Severity: minor
Hi,
while trying to find out where I get the errors about %e from, I found
out in the udev changelog:
"On new installs, install cd-aliases-generator.rules with priority
z75 instead of cd-aliases.rules."
For me, the consequence is that, depending if you've installed the
package before or not, you end with a different state of your udev
setup.
This doesn't sound right to me, especially given the fact that %e is
deprecated. I would therefore recommend to have:
- either an easy-to-use utility to "upgrade" cd-aliases.rules with
cd-aliases-generator.rules (plus a note somewhere).
- or add a debconf question about what the admin would like to do.
- or just "upgrade" cd-aliases.rules to cd-aliases-generator.rules
(possibly with a warning at installation time and some explanation in
one of the README/NEWS files)
I think that option 3 would have my preference, as I don't see what it
could make worse...
Thanks, Eric

Yes, that's life.

We already have one, it's called ln.

No way, there are already too many useless debconf questions.

I will probably do this before the next Debian release.
