Package: lxd
OS version: bullseye
I want report dependencies issues for the lxd package that prevent lxd from
becoming installed.
The libraries libxtables12 and libip4tc2 are required to be exact in version
1.8.7-1 and if the installed ones are newer then that, lxd installation is
beeing aborted.
Proposed fix:
In the dependencies, replace all "= version" with ">= version"

Hello,
LXD has not yet been included in a Debian release (it's expected to
be part of bookworm when it comes out in 2023), so unfortunately this
isn't an actionable bug report and I'll be closing it. You will have to
contact whomever built/provided the LXD package you installed with any
issues you might be experiencing on a bullseye system. (I am aware of a
couple third-party repos providing a version of LXD for bullseye,
including my own unofficial backports, but since they are third-party
the Debian BTS isn't the right place to report issues.)
From your comment about newer versions of libxtables12 and libip4tc2,
I suspect you might have a "FrankenDebian" system [1] where you've
mixed "testing/bookworm", "sid", Ubuntu, and/or other third-party repos
with "stable/bullseye". The current version of src:iptables in bullseye
is 1.8.7-1 [2]; if you're seeing something trying to upgrade those to a
newer version you certainly don't have a supported bullseye install.
Mixing different releases is almost always a bad thing -- packages in a
release of Debian are built to be compatible with the versions of other
libraries in that same release. They may not work with newer versions,
or may even introduce installation conflicts like you're seeing. Mixing
releases also makes it very difficult for others to reproduce any
issues you might encounter.
